these days was so happy..the weather in Hong Kong is become warmer liao..

the weather today was consider so good..its 18.8 Celsius at my uni..

i still remember the weather when i just came back from the winter break..a sudden change of weather from 30 C in Malaysia to 7 C in Hong Kong in a few hours is not something i can take since i cant tahan cold..just see how am i in the cinema and the shopping mall back in Malaysia..the boyfriend also feel weird how can i fell so cold under that condition..T.T i also cant help de ma..

I still remember how i come through the coldest period in Hong Kong.according to the media, this is the coldest winter in this recent years..hoho..me so geng to can over come this period..with all my friends..during the period, i have to attend 3 weeks of industrial training,2 weeks in my uni and another week in PolyU..everyday i have to wake up early in the morning(OMG, y to torture a young girl to wake up early in the morning when she can actually stay in her warm bed with her nice comforter and pillow T.T )

furthermore, i cant wear my tees that i bring from Malaysia..i have to wrap myself up in those thick thick sweaters and scarfs..which made the fat me further fat…OMFG…
you see, winter is actually no good..i m now waiting for summer..where i can wear shorts and tees..

the main point of this post : the weather of Hong Kong is turning warm *grin*

As a responsible citizen on the mother earth, i’ll write the following post no matter how sleepy i am now.

Environment is always a discussed issue in many international forums and meeting. From small issue like dividing our rubbish, recycling and reusing to bigger issue like releasing of carbon dioxide and CFC and the ozone layer.Environment is actually all about us.
We live in this little earth in this big galaxy, and until now, there is still no findings that there is another planet that have the same condition as Earth that will allow humans to survive on it. From the space, we can see that the earth is most beautiful among the other 7 planets ( i don’t know which look better to you, but to me, YES!!its the earth, the colour is so nice..blue and green), but very very unfortunately, us, human are not treating the Mother Earth very nice.
Cutting down too many trees without re-plant it had cause the unbalance proportion of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. The emission of carbon dioxide and CFC are holes on the ozone layer and the UV lights from the sun pass through the atmosphere without the filter from the ozone. We talk about the green house effect, we talked about the climate change. The things we talked about are all chained together, its the cause and effect.the thing we did to the environment will in the end pay back on us one day..
People already realize this problem long time ago. They talked about it, they discuss, they want to come up with solutions. The Montreal Protocol is doing good, every part of the world is trying to do their bit, and we are now hearing good news. This proof that : YES, WE CAN DO OUR BIT TO MAKE SOME CHANGES. we can vote for changes, why not do something for changes??

There is this activity coming up this Saturday, its call the EARTH HOUR.
Last year on 31 March, 2.2 million people and 2100 businesses in Sydney,Australia turned off their lights for one hour from 7.30pm to 8.30pm. They call it the Earth Hour. Even the Sydney famous places like Harbour Bridge and Opera House took part. The 2007 Earth Hour is estimated to have cut Sydney’s mains electricity consumption by between 2.1% and 10.2% for that hour.
So, this year, they are going to do it again, and this time they want to do it with the rest of the world. Cities like Chicago, Atlanta, San Francisco, Manila and Bangkok. Lights off from 8pm to 9pm on this Saturday(29 March 2008) in all these cities.
Although i m not in any of the cities that are involved in Earth Hour. but i m going to do my bit to the environment. From 8pm to 9pm that day, i’ll be by the sea side of the university, enjoying the natural breeze and of course not to forget, i’ll switch off my lights when i leave.
I am going to do my bit, how bout you??

NP : hi, nice to meet you.My name is blah blah blah (some christian name).
me: hi nice to meet you too…My name is weiqi.
np : wei???what’s your name again???
me: weiqi.
np : ooooo..weiqi..do you have a english name??so its easier for me to remember your name.
me : no

i always fall into this kind of conversation since i came to Hong Kong. People here are so fond of getting people’s english name.most of the people like people to address them by their “english name”

Some of them will then ask why i m not getting a english name for myself. ok, now i’ll tell you.

1) I don’t think there is a need to have a English name
wei qi is my given name since i was born. The name i use for almost 20 years. What for i need to change it to Katty or Betty or Jetty?? Wei qi is the name my parents gave me and even if i m going to have another name,i think i should have to let my parents know.

2) They are too many people with the same English name
i don’t want to be the 2nd Sandy or 3rd Jeniffer in you phone book. Honestly, i know some friends with the same name. I have a few friends named Alex, Jeffery and Eric. then some of them have confusing name like Dickson or Jackson. then you’ll have to differentiate them by the Fat Eric, the Short Jeffery or the Dark Alex..

3) People will remember you better
people will remember u better as the person without a christian name when everyone around you has one. I am the 1st person that my English instructor remember in class because everyone else in class have an English name. And i remember during the 1st lesson, she ask us to write our name on a piece of paper and make it stand on the table. Everyone,without hesitation,write their English name, except me. She ask me whether i have an English name, as if i don’t know i suppose to write my English name rather than full name. But in the end, she remember my name 1st..
do not think non-chinese speaker cant remember you name. Actually they can, just give them some time. Us, Chinese speaker also have problem in calling other people’s name. When i know the few guys from Sir Lanka and India, i too have problem calling their name. Its not Chinese nor English. Its their language where who never learn before. It takes me some time to remember theirs. But it’s ok.

4) I can’t find a name that suits me
Honestly, during my childhood days, i always wanted to have a English name. I think having a English name is very chio. I was looking names in books and even in dictionary. But i cant find any name that i think will fit me. I mean the look and character, a name where people will think of me when they heard of the name. Jessica was too feminine, Mandy and Sandy was too ah lian. In the end, weiqi is still the name i like best.

these are all the reason i do not have a English name. What’s yours??Or why are you having one???

i think i’ll have to clarify why am i writing this post. Not that i am against having a Christian name. What i am disagree is how the Hong Kong people mostly think that people should have a some sort of Christian name where it is not given. I still remember people asking me “Why don’t you have a English name?” , and my 1st reaction was “Why do i need to?”
Maybe to them, having a English name is a must because their primary school English will made everyone of them to have English name??So, here comes another question..Why are the English teacher wants them to have English names??Don’t they already have their own name??And is that this practice that makes them think everyone else must have a English name??
And something i want to add on more to this topic.actually not everyone that i know is using an English name. Some of them prefer to be called by nickname.And they have really cute names^^

I am so so so so so pissed off with what happened tonight..

just give me a break la..this job is making my life miserable..
why i cant print a duplex documents properly…i am so so so mad about myself and the settings….
Who can teach me how to use computer ar??i am a technology idiot la..OMG!!!
i wan sleep liao le..if not how to tahan 12 hours tomorrow for that bloody AGM..(yea, bloody)

guys…don’t ask me to print things anymore!!!

after 2 nights of studying MGTO120:introduction to management and bury myself within a bunch of terms like Hawthorne studies, SWOT analysis, decision making, franchiser, franchisee, employer and employee, you will learn something more than management.

believe it or not, you will improve you English too. i’ll explain why ~~

just now, LF come to my room to borrow a mat from me, after telling me how she screwed up the MGTO exam paper…

LF: f*cker, i want to go back liao
me: ok..
me: wei, u kenot call me f*cker.
LF: Y??
me: grammatically, i am not a f*cker, i am a f*ckee.

ps: my MGTO professor will want to bang himself to the wall if he know this is what his student learned.
ps2: lf say no one will understand if i dun explain the joke.ok, so here’s is it
grammatically, employer is some one who employ workers and employee is someone who is being
employ by the employer. so, according to this logic, f*cker is someone who f*ck while f*ckee is someone
being f*ck.
ps3: this is just a gag. not to insult anyone.
